Winifred A. Herrada

Winifred Ann Herrada, known to friends and family as Winnie (nee Hammond), passed away after a lengthy illness on October 13th, 2022 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, OH.

She was born on March 31st, 1936 in Sandusky, OH to William W. Hammond and Anna Julia Hammond (Landoll) and lived her early years in Huron, Ohio.  She was a graduate of Huron High School. 

Winnie married Arthur Herrada in 1958 and they had three children: Randall (Tracy) Herrada, Elisa (Greg) Herrada, and Andrew Herrada.  She spent many of her adult years in Walled Lake, Michigan, but returned to Huron for her later years. 

Winnie was the oldest of six children: William (Ann) Hammond, Paula Tyren (Edwin), Kathleen Maloney (Eugene), Mary Spicer (Thomas), and Robert (Ilian) Hammond.  Winnie had many interests including reading, fashion, crafting, doll-making and playing bingo. She loved children and would often be seen holding babies at family functions. She loved to engage people; she could strike up a conversation anywhere and with just about anyone.  Her laughter was infectious, and you’d usually find her smiling.

She loved her grandchildren, Brittany Herrada, Christina Holmer, Joe Herrada, and Amanda Herrada and great-grandchildren Jonah Miller and Bronson Delk. 

Winnie is survived by her children Randall (Tracy) Herrada, Elisa (Greg) Herrada and Andrew Herrada and her husband, Arthur Herrada. 

She is preceded in death by her parents William W. Hammond and Anna Julia Hammond (Landoll) and siblings, William Hammond, Paula Tyren, and Mary Spicer.  

Memorial services will be at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron 44839 on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 11:00 – 2:00 p.m.  A service will begin at 1 p.m. and burial will occur at a later time.
