William (Bill) Henry Santom of Vermilion, Ohio went home to be with his Savior on November 24, 2021, while surrounded by family. He was born on March 16, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sylvia Santom. Bill is also survived by his daughter Beth (Bob) Falkenberg, daughter Lynnel (Jon) Brewster, daughter Susan (David) Spencer and son David (Angela). He also leaves behind his brother Ronnie (Joyce), 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Bill was an athlete starring both in track and football in high school. After graduating from Perry High School in Pittsburgh, he turned down the offer of a scholarship to pole vault for the University of Pittsburgh and instead chose to pursue a career as a craftsman. Bill began working as a cabinet maker before being drafted into the army.  While on leave, he married his junior high school sweetheart Sylvia Gallagher in 1954. After serving stateside in the army for two years, he began an apprenticeship as an upholsterer. In 1958 he finished his apprenticeship and established the William Santom Upholstery Shop on Forest Ave. in Pittsburgh. After several years, Bill moved the business to Rochester Road in Ross Township where he and Sylvia raised their family. His high-quality work was well known in the Pittsburgh area his entire career. Six years after retiring in 1995 he and Sylvia moved to Beulah Beach, Ohio where they have resided since 2001.

Bill trusted Christ as his Savior early in his adult life. His smile and joyful personality were a testimony to others as Bill loved people and loved to serve his Lord. For several years he led the bus ministry at Northgate Bible Baptist Church reaching children in the intercity of Pittsburgh. He also was an elder at Northgate.

In his retirement he loved playing golf and pool as well as watching his grandchildren’s endeavors in athletics whether it was basketball, track, or hockey. He also was an avid fan of his beloved Steelers.
