William Wilson Obituary

HURON - William “Bill” F. Wilson, 67, of Huron, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family early Monday morning, October 14, 2019, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

   Born October 11, 1952 In Sandusky, Bill was a 1972 graduate of Perkins High School. He was known to some as Billy, Wilferd, or just The Ferd.  He was regarded as one the area’s finest drummers from the late 60’s through the 90’s. In the late 60’s he played with the local favorite band “Pride and Joy”.  He then played with the group “Telegraph Road”, touring around the Mid-West throughout the 70’s.  He was a member of the groups “Kindling” and “Zebra” from the late 70’s to mid-80’s, then country music bands “Buckshot” and “Hillbilly Rockers” through the 90’s.

   Bill spent his professional career as a driver.  He worked for Central News Company for 19 years, and then Garner Trucking until his retirement.

Bill was an avid boater and fisherman, as well as Charter Boat Captain and Co-Owner of South Shore Charters. He also enjoyed Shooting Sports, various woodworking and automotive projects, watching sports, and most of all; spending time with family and friends.

   Bill is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Patti (Miller); together for 50 years, married 44.  His son Marcus (Dr. Sarah Erwin) Wilson, daughter Jennifer (Patrick) Myser, and granddaughters Iris Allyn and Rose Grace Myser, all of Westerville, OH.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John T. Wilson and Martha (Snouffer) Wilson, sister Viva Wilson, brothers John “JT” Wilson and Jay P. Wilson, father-in-law Quintin Miller, and nephew William J. Waterfield.

   Visitation will take place Friday, October 18th, from 5-8 pm at Foster Funeral Home 410 Main St. Huron.  The Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 19th, at Trinity Lutheran Church 502 Bardshar Rd. Sandusky, OH 44870.   Pastor Phil Gardner will officiate.  A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service at the Huron Eagles Club 2902 Cleveland Rd W. Huron, OH 44839.

   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Stein Hospice Service 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or Trinity Lutheran Church.
