Virginia Slivka Obituary

Huron- Virginia "Ginny" Slivka, 85, went to be with Jesus and her beloved husband Michael on Thursday evening, February 10th, 2022. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home.

Virginia was born on December 9th,1936 on a farm in Arkwright, NY to Marion Rose and Merna (Smith) Rose. She graduated from Pine Valley High School then proudly attended and completed Doyle Beauty College in Buffalo, NY, and began her lifelong career as a hairdresser. She married her late husband Michael Slivka of Pittsburgh, PA, in 1959. They began raising a family in Boston, Massachusetts then moved to Huron in 1963 where she has resided ever since. Together she and Michael loved to travel, play pinochle, bowl, and watch horse racing. Virginia also loved to host Bunko games for her lady friends.

She was a loving, supportive, and generous individual who cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Virginia simply loved people and would strike up a conversation with anyone.  She will be remembered by all her stories, wit, and counsel she gave to so many. Virginia was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church of Huron. Virginia also worked the polls as presiding judge in many elections.

Virginia is survived by her children, Darlene (Paul) Bauman of Huron and Sandra (Omar Londono) Slivka of Hallandale Beach, FL; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Merna Rose, and siblings, Emery Rose and Arlene Stockwether of Cherry Creek, NY.

All are welcome to pay respects to Virginia from 10:30 - 11:30 am on Tuesday, February 15th at St. Peter Catholic Church, 410 Main St., Huron 44839, with a mass and reception immediately to follow.
