Vera Richardson

Vera Richardson was born in Forge Village, Massachusetts. She attended Westford Academy and Lowell Commercial College. Vera began her career working for First Federal Savings in Lowell.

Vera married Maurice “Moe” Richardson, Jr., and they honeymooned by sailing their boat down the Erie Canal from New York before settling in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. They were married in 1952 and later moved to Huron, Ohio, in 1972.

After relocating to Huron, Vera worked for and retired from the Erie County Personnel Department (Human Resources).

Vera was an active and devoted member of her community. She was a member of the Huron Civic Club, loved playing Bridge, and served as a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader. She was also a member of the Sandusky Sailing Club and served on the Sandusky Sailing Club Race Committee. Vera greatly enjoyed gardening, sailing, cooking, and baking.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Vera Sawosik; her brothers, Peter Sawosik and Michael Sawosik (her twin brother); her sister-in-law, Terry Sawosik; her sisters, Antonia (Ann) and Helen; her daughter, Paula Jean Rose; and her husband, Maurice “Moe” Richardson, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Michael Richardson, and his wife, Fidaa; her granddaughter, Holly Lautanen (Richardson) and her husband Anthony; Holly’s mother, Barbara; her son-in-law, John Rose, and his wife, Audrey; her sister-in-law, Mary; and many nieces and nephews.”

A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Huron, Ohio.

Vera dearly loved her many friends and her church family.
