Theodor Meyer

Theodor Meyer, 72, of Huron, passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center. Born on April 27, 1952, in Scherz, Switzerland to the late Walter and Lucie (Angliker) Meyer, he received his Certificate of Naturalization on August 21, 1985.

Ted spent most of his career in the grain milling business overseeing the construction of grain mills around the world. There are many good stories and travels before meeting his wife and settling down with his family in the United States.  Ted was smart, hardworking, honest, and patient. More than anything, his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He raised his family to help others and made a difference in the lives of those that were lucky enough to meet him and understand his accent. He will be missed by so many, but his life’s work in the mills continues to provide opportunity and food for many around the world.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Jane Meyer; sons, Christopher (Kimberly) Meyer and Matthew (Kelly) Meyer; grandchildren, Mia, William, and Lucie Meyer; brother, Hanspeter (Isla) Meyer; niece, Regina (Ben) Meyer; nephew, Marcel (Sabine) Meyer; as well as his grandniece and nephew, Selina and Jan Meyer.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held at the Huron United Methodist Church.
