HURON - Terry Leon Burke, 77, of Huron Ohio died peacefully on June 20, 2020.
Terry was born on July 24, 1942 in Allegan Michigan. He was the oldest of 5 siblings. Terry was an Eagle Scout, a member of ROTC, and graduated from Michigan State University in 1964 with a B.S. in Zoology. While at MSU he met his wife, Gail, of 54 years. Terry honorably served as 1st Lieutenant US Army 6/16th Artillery in Vietnam. Terry had a fulfilling career working for Merck Pharmaceuticals for 35 years.
Terry was an active participant in his community. He was a soccer coach for his 2 daughters and later refereed for the Erie County Soccer League. He served as president of the Great Lakes Chapter of National Association of Watch and Clock Collections, and volunteered as a stream monitor for the Firelands Coastal Tributaries and Watershed.
Terry was a dedicated member and servant of the First Presbyterian Church of Huron for over 40 years. There, he was a member of choir and session and helped build a church-sponsored house with Habitat for Humanity.
Terry loved nature, reading Calvin and Hobbes and listening to and singing music with great harmony. He was a loving husband to Gail Thygeson Burke, father to daughters Carrie Ann (David) Andrews and April Marie (Darin) Hoggatt and grandfather to Matthew, Hannah and Sarah.
He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed. He will be laid to rest at a private commitment ceremony in Scott Union Cemetery, Huron Ohio.
