Terence L. Slocum, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 1, 2025, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio.
Born March 12, 1943, in Norwalk, Ohio, he graduated from Huron High School in 1961. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served overseas in Rota, Spain, as a radio mechanic. Following his discharge, he was employed by Taylor Instruments as a field technician. He later worked for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District at the Westerly Wastewater Treatment Plant in Cleveland, Ohio, as Maintenance Manager of Electrical and Instrumentation. He served in that role for over 30 years, retiring in 2016.
Terry enjoyed Ohio sports—particularly the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Guardians, and, of course, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Although he was a private person, he will be remembered as someone who never hesitated to share his opinion.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the employees and staff of the Ohio Veterans Home for their kindness and care during Terry’s time there.
He is survived by his sister, Tomma Schmidt of Huron, Ohio, and her family: Matthew (Amy) Schmidt of Columbus, Ohio, and Logan Schmidt of British Columbia, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle W. “Bud” Slocum and Lillian A. Slocum.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on June 9, 2025, at Meadow Green Cemetery in Huron, Ohio.
