Terence “Terry” Lee Kette, age 69, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of quiet service, remarkable intelligence, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Born on September 2, 1956, to Florence I. Kette and Harold Higgins, Terry was the oldest of four brothers and one sister and built a life defined by integrity and loyalty. A lifelong resident of Northern Ohio, he shared 27 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Emilia (Rosa) Kette, whom he married in April 1999. He was also a devoted stepfather to Themis (Jacobs’s) Norton, whom he cared for deeply.
Terry devoted much of his professional career to the HVAC and sheet metal industry, serving as Vice President of Gundlach Sheet Metal Works in Sandusky, Ohio. Throughout his decades in this profession, he earned the respect of coworkers, customers, and other industry professionals for his extraordinary technical knowledge and calm leadership. He was known as a man who could solve almost any problem placed before him, yet he never sought recognition for his impact.
Beyond his professional expertise, Terry possessed a witty sense of humor and a grounded perspective on life. He was a truly selfless man, consistently placing the needs of others ahead of his own. His sense of duty to those who relied upon him, both personally and professionally, was the guiding force of his life. He often sacrificed his own comfort in service to those he loved.
Terry’s passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of his family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched through his guidance, friendship, and quiet acts of service.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Family, friends, coworkers, and all who knew Terry professionally and personally are invited to attend a Celebration of Life honoring his memory on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 334 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio.
