Steve Kovalik Obituary

Steve Kovalik, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on September 14, 1941, in Cleveland, Steve was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and a dedicated Air Force Veteran.

Steve's interests were as diverse as his heart was full. An avid Cleveland Guardians fan and PGA Golf enthusiast, he also found joy in listening to music, dancing a good polka, and delving into historical accounts, particularly those of the Civil War. He cherished quiet moments on his patio, watching birds and admiring beautiful flowers.

Family meant everything to Steve, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Steve's legacy lives on through his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Pamela Kovalik, and children, Chris Kovalik (Jodi), Carrie Nemec (Dale), Lisa Toaz (Terry), and Kelly Bodkin (Greg). He was a cherished grandfather to Bryan (Nicole), Cassie (Henry), Joshua (Chelsea), Allie (Kyle), Zachary (Eshani), Devin, Daniel, Mary Kate (Ryan), Emma, Ellie (Mitch), and Jared (Erin). His great-grandchildren, Blake, Austin, Trenton, Sofia, Charlie, Opal, Mavis, Kinsley, and a baby girl due to arrive in April, will carry forward his memory with love. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Wendorff; sister-in-law, Cathy Larsen; beloved Schnauzer, Andy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will dearly miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary (LaBuda); sister, Edith Arbutina (Bill); brother, Ed Kovalik (Fran); and brother-in-law, Don Wendorff.
