Shirley A. (Minier) Reynolds, 86, of Huron, passed away on December 20, 2022.
Shirley was born in Port Clinton, Ohio and arrived in Huron with her mom and stepfather, Edwin Buck, to open the popular downtown Huron restaurant The Ed-Mar.
She met her husband, Bob, during his frequent visits to the restaurant when he docked in the Port of Huron while sailing for Cleveland Cliffs. Soon after their first meeting, he proposed to Shirley at Huron’s Lakefront Park. Shirley supported her husband’s career in real estate as a broker, developer, and appraiser (R.A. Reynolds & Associates and Citizens Bank).
Shirley’s passion was gardening, which was well known. She was an active member of the Huron Garden Club. Shirley organized the first Queen’s Contest as part of the original Huron Water Festival. She and Robert worked tirelessly to restore the character, dignity, establishment, and naming of Captain Montague’s Bed and Breakfast. Shirley and Bob’s favorite moments were opening Captain Montague’s and annually sharing a classic English Christmas with the community.
Shirley’s family would like to thank the entire staff at The Meadows of Osborne Park for their love and excellent care of our mother. We are deeply appreciative of Pastor Pamela Sayre and the Huron United Methodist Church, as well as her friends and neighbors who helped care for her.
Shirley is survived by children, David (September) Reynolds of Davis, CA, Susan (David) Lisa of Huron, OH, and Jennifer (Matthew) Corbett of Harvard, MA; eight grandchildren: Leah, Rachel, Sarah (David); Lydia, Marc, Adam (Susan); Ella, Cate (Jennifer); ten great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Reynolds; her parents, Marcella Schneider-Buck and Glenwood Minier; stepfather, Edwin Buck; stepbrother, Robert Buck; and her beloved brother, Floyd Minier.
A public service honoring both Robert and Shirley Reynolds is scheduled for March 24th, 2023 at the Huron United Methodist Church, 338 Williams St., Huron 44839. The family will greet guests beginning at 10:15 with the service to begin at 11 A.M.
