Sally Parilla Obituary

Sally Jean Parilla, 81, of Huron, passed away on January 1, 2023.

Sally was born May 21, 1941 in Plain City, Ohio. She was proudly the tomboy daughter of Omar and Belle Sheiderer. She grew up riding the tractor with her dad and driving the grain truck at harvest time. Her favorite time was lambing season and her best buddy was a dog named Tubby.

She got her high school education from Chuckery-Darby High School in Unionville Center, Ohio.  She then went on to study at Miami University, Florida. It was there where she met and fell in love with James Beer from Mansfield, Ohio.

They married and returned to Mansfield to raise a family. Eventually they had two children, Vicki Sue (Jay) Berger of Mansfield and Jeffrey Scott (Jane) Beer of Aurora, Illinois; grandchildren, Joe (Stephanie), Mitchell, Julia, and Jimmy; and great-grandchildren Joey and Rowen. Together they started a business called TV All Channel Guide. Sally was very artistic, often volunteering at the Mansfield Art Center. She was widowed in 1973 after her husband Jim was involved in a tragic aircraft accident.

Sally worked several jobs after her loss and eventually worked as a Dispatcher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mansfield Post. Eventually she left that position to pursue, and complete, her college education. She attended The Ohio State University and finished with a degree in education. After obtaining her degree, she taught at the Mansfield Senior High School and then at Simpson Middle School until her resignation in 1995.

In 1983, she married her husband of nearly 40 years, Richard M. Parilla. Together they lived and worked in the Mansfield community, she as a teacher and he as a State Trooper. In 2007, they relocated from Mansfield to Huron, Ohio.  In Huron, Sally loved living near Lake Erie and observing all that the Ohio north coast and nature had to offer. She loved boating on the lake and photographing the numerous water fowl, which she would then put to canvas. Sally was an accomplished artist using many mediums. She excelled in designing and creating stained glass and was outstanding at putting her wildlife and waterfowl visions to canvas.

Sally touched more hearts and lives than she ever knew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Omar and Belle Sheiderer, and also by a beloved grandson, Samuel Richard Berger. Sally and her loving smile will be truly missed forever by both family and friends.

The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Snyder Funeral Homes, Marion Avenue Chapel (350 Marion Ave, Mansfield, OH 44903) where a memorial service honoring her life will be held the following day at 10:30 AM with Rev.
