Robert L. Wilhelm

Robert L. Wilhelm, 84, of Huron, Ohio, passed away on September 2, 2024. Born on September 24, 1939, in Willard, Ohio, Robert was the son of the late Walter Leon Wilhelm and Clarabelle Nettie Eastman.

Robert served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962 as an E4 in the Hydraulics Control Unit, and specialized in Search and Rescue. His career spanned several roles, including working at Fishbaugh Construction and Akron Standard Mold - Greenwich Division. From 1969 to 1994, he was a welding instructor at EHOVE Career Center and also worked as a self-employed farmer.

A dedicated outdoorsman, Robert was an avid hunter, fisherman, and mushroom hunter. He was deeply involved in his community, organizing local youth sports like Little League and Biddy Basketball, and serving as a Boy Scout Leader. He cherished spending time with friends and family, enjoying activities such as golf, card games, and particularly loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting and school events.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Ella I. Wilhelm; brother, Walter L. Wilhelm Jr.; sisters, Ruth Ann Baker (Merlin) and Mary Kay Sharfenberg; children, Robert L. Wilhelm Jr. (Jill), Kimberly A. Rader (Steve), Brenda M. O'Brien, Ilaine Vogus (Brad), and Hubert Maczuga; grandchildren, Nathan and Danielle Wilhelm, Megan and Austin Rader, Riley, Peyton, Preston, and Avery O’Brien, Karly Parker (Alex), Kaley and Hunter Vogus, David Maczuga (Lisa), and Andrea Maczuga; four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darrel Joseph Wilhelm.

Private family services will be held at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory with burial to follow at Scott Union Cemetery.
