Robert L Tracht

Robert (Bob) Tracht, of Huron, passed away on February 18, 2022.

He was born September 21, 1937 in Farmer, Ohio to Ned and Vearl (Wilcox) Tracht. His family moved to Huron where he graduated from Huron High School in 1955. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor in Architecture on June 10, 1960.  On June 11, 1960 he married the love of his life, Joan (Bardshar) Tracht. In their 61 years of marriage, they have two sons, Dan (Dawn) and Dave (Tricia), and 5 grandchildren.

He was co-founder of the Huron Historical and Cultural Center. He was active in Boy Scouts along with his two sons. He was active in the Erie County Home Builders, past president and 43-year member of the Huron Rotary Club, Huron Jaycees, Huron Chamber of Commerce and Man of the Year, 1982.

He enjoyed golfing and got a hole in one on # 2 at Thunderbird in July, 1997. He enjoyed boating, fishing, cards, bowling, working with wood, and traveling with family. He and Joan traveled throughout the U.S. and to foreign countries.

Mr. Tracht opened his architectural, building and developing services office and Joan worked with him. He designed and built both residential and commercial units. He and Joan founded Custom Construction Co. He designed, developed and built the Dales Condos and developed the 4 Seasons Estates on the family farm. Bob’s love was unique styles and futuristic heating systems such as solar. He was the first to build Mini Storage units in Erie County. When urban renewal took downtown Huron, Bob designed and built Anchorpoint, bringing offices, businesses and condos to the area.

He is survived by his wife; two sons; brother, Bill (Al) of Huron; sisters, Lois Eggleston of Canal Winchester, OH, and Deb (Ken) DeChant of Milan; plus, several nephews, nieces, grandchildren and cousins. He is also survived by aunts, Virginia Mowery of Ft. Wayne, IN and Helen Eaton of Brooksville, FL.

He was preceded in death by his two parents.

At the wish of the deceased, cremation will take place. Visitation will be held March 4 from 4:30 - 5:30 PM at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron 44839. A service will follow by nephew Ken DeChant of Journey Church as well as a Celebration of Life.
