Raymond E. Seigle, 91, of Huron, Ohio passed away on 14 September 2023 from COPD issues.
He was born on 26 June 1932 and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania by his parents, Gabriel and Bessie (Wood) Seigle. Ray graduated from Altoona High School and married his wife, Elaine N. Seigle, on 8 February 1958. Elaine passed away on 30 April 2020. Ray was a Sheet Metal Mechanic and retired from New Departure Hyatt of Sandusky, Ohio in 1992 after a 19-year career at the GM facility.
Raymond was interested in old car restoration and specialized in fuel pump rebuilds and enjoyed attending Swap Meets. He was also interested in building model airplanes and was an avid reader. Ray was instrumental in the successful build and championship performance of pinewood derby cars during his sons’ early Cub Scout careers. While living in New Jersey during his sons’ grade-school years, he took a town baseball league and greatly expanded “’The Clinic” which many youngsters enjoyed. He was very much ahead of his time when he branched it into Girls’ Softball. He was a very dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan and loved to listen to “old-school” Country and Western music.
Most admirably, Ray also served his country in the Army during the Korean War.
Ray is survived by his sons, James D. Seigle (Sue Ellen Kerr) of Wethersfield, CT and Raymond E. Seigle Jr. of Canton, Michigan; two precious grandsons, Scott J. Seigle of Wethersfield, CT and Matthew Seigle of Canton, Michigan; loving nephews John Williams (Jane), Robert Williams (Lynda), John Kensinger Jr, Richard Ritchey, William Ritchey, and Donald Ritchey; as well as loving nieces Deborah Fitzpatrick (Rick) and Carol Jean Pendalino.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Joan Mansolino (John), Betty Williams (John), Doris Kensinger (John), and Glenrose Ritchey (Clyde); brother, Donald Seigle; and his childhood best friend, John Stoynoff.
During his lifetime, he was fortunate to enjoy several canine members of his family: Inky from his youth, and later Laddy, Sparky, Freckles, Chloe, and Carmen as well as a couple of feline members, Bubba and Cisi.
Ray was fortunate to receive quality in-home care from several caring friends so that he could remain at home during the past years. I would like to thank the numerous friends who included him in their activities and spent time with him and visited with him during his final days.
Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service honoring Ray's life on 20 September 2023 at Scott Cemetery, Huron Avery Rd., Huron, beginning at 11 AM.
