Patricia Eileen Dillon, lovingly known as “Pat,” passed away leaving behind a lifetime of memories rooted in compassion, laughter, and unwavering love for family and friends. Born on May 24, 1933, to John and Marjorie (Reinken) Weiland, Pat grew up in Mansfield, Ohio, where she graduated from St. Peter’s High School before pursuing her calling in nursing at Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio, becoming a Registered Nurse.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald Weiland; her sister, Margie Szaroleta; and her children, Ted Dillon and Tracey Dillon.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Michael Dillon, Matthew (Cindy) Dillon, Kelley (Mark) Knapp, John (Diedre) Dillon, and Susan (Tom) Gibbons; along with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were truly the joys of her life. She is also survived by her goddaughter, Toni Johnson, and the many people she embraced as family throughout her life.
Pat eventually moved from Mansfield to live full-time at her beloved cottage in Old Homestead in Huron, Ohio, a place she carefully created in her own image. People drifted through that old house constantly—family, old friends, new friends, distant cousins, and wayward souls the universe seemed to assign to her for safekeeping. Pat claimed all of them as family. Her home was never simply a place she lived; it was a sanctuary held together by chaos, coffee, sand from the beach, and whatever happened to be cooking that day.
Her kindness, humor, and generous spirit created a home where everyone felt welcome, and her memory will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.
