Merle Boldman, 87, of Huron, passed away on December 11, 2024, after a long illness.
Born on April 24, 1937, to Beulah and Jesse Boldman, Merle grew up in Wooster, Ohio, and graduated from Wooster High School in 1955, where he was a proud member of the golf team for four years. In 1957, he moved to Huron, which he called home for the rest of his life.
Merle retired from Ford Motor Company after a dedicated 30-year career, then spent 20 years working part-time at Thunderbird Hills Golf Course, indulging his passion for the sport. He was a member of the Huron Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years, retiring as Captain. Merle was well-known for his quick wit, generous spirit, and readiness to lend a helping hand. Merle enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Huron.
Merle is survived by his wife of 67.5 years, Suzanne (Dunham) Boldman, and his daughters, Kimberly (Boldman) Painter and her husband Mike, Carrie Boldman, and Amy (Boldman) Champion and her husband Jim. He also was a proud grandfather to six and great-grandfather to eight.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 10 – 11:45 AM at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron 44839. Burial will follow visitation at Scott Cemetery, Huron Avery Rd., Huron.
