Mary Ann Post Obituary

HURON - Mary Ann Post (née Buescher) age 73, of Huron, surrounded at home by a loving family, peacefully succumbed to her illness on January 13, 2021, following a long, hard fought battle.

Mary Ann, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend was born on November 25, 1947 and grew up in Midland, MI. She attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, earning degrees in elementary education, English, and library science.  She and her husband, Stan, were married in 1971, and following his career as an insurance underwriter, moved around a great deal first to Howell, Michigan, and then Columbus, Mansfield, Findlay and finally, settling in Wooster where they lived for twenty-six years before moving to Huron in 2019.

Mary Ann served as an elementary school librarian in Battle Creek, Michigan, and was an elementary teacher of second, third, and fourth grades at Howell. She landed an intriguing job with an organization called Central Ohio Regional News Index at Grandview Heights Public Library. It was a court-ordered project where her job was to read newspaper articles on various subjects, and then catalog and index them as resources for future research.  She had substitute teaching posts in Mansfield, but when she arrived in Findlay, decided to stop working entirely to raise her two young sons.  When her children were older she decided to resume substitute teaching, and applied for substitute posts through Tri-County Educational Service Center in Wooster.  This application led to an interview in Loudonville for a vacant head library position. Mary Ann worked as the district’s head librarian for fourteen years when she retired in 2013.

In her retirement, always active in the Lutheran Church they attended, Mary Ann served on the council for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Northeast Ohio Synod as the lay person representing the Akron-Wooster cluster.  Mary Ann also celebrated her fiftieth anniversary with the P.E.O. philanthropic organization this past summer and was a former president of her chapter.  Mary Ann loved reading and being with family.  She especially enjoyed traveling to visit family members in Michigan and Colorado.  She was always willing to lend a hand and was full of love for, and loved by, everyone she knew. This wonderful lady of tremendous heart, one who held a great care and compassion for others, will forever be greatly missed.

Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband of forty-nine years, Stanley Post, two sons, Paul Post (Elizabeth) of Cleveland, OH, and Peter Post of Wooster, Ohio, grandchild John, brother David Buescher of Red Lodge, Montana, and sister Barbara Harmon of Houston, Texas, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews, who reside in Ohio, Michigan and around the nation.  Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ada Katherine Buescher, and by her most beloved uncle, Wilbur Buescher.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 18, 6:00-8:00 pm at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St, Huron, with services to be held Tuesday, January 19th at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery, Huron Avery Rd & E Scheid Rd, Huron.
