Marianne O'Halla Obituary

Marianne O’Halla, of Huron, Ohio, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 92.

Marianne, a supportive and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, most recently resided at The Willows nursing home in Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Julia Lucatch; her parents-in-law, Roger and Minnie O’Halla; her husband of 36 years, Roger W. O’Halla; siblings Dorothy (Michael) Cvercko and Evelyn Moran; her son Kevin O’Halla; and her grandson Ryan Cartwright.

She is survived by her children Maureen (Jim) Gorman, Mark (Anita) O’Halla, Bradley (Laurie) O’Halla, Craig (Nadine) O’Halla, Kathleen (Jeff) Danevich, and Tim (Katherine) O’Halla; her brother-in-law Don Moran; her daughter-in-law Debbie O’Halla; as well as 15 additional grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three nieces, and three nephews.

Marianne was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1933 and was the second of three children. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Ferndale and worked as a secretary for the New Departure Sales Office of General Motors in Detroit, where she met Roger. After moving to Huron in 1966, Marianne devoted herself to faith and family. She raised seven children, cared for her mother-in-law, and was active in St. Peter Catholic Church as a member of the Altar Society and later as a Eucharistic minister, which included providing communion to homebound parishioners. Eventually, she became one of several lay members who led weekday communion services in the chapel.

As her children began leaving home, she returned to work for over 30 years as an Administrative Assistant in the church office. Marianne also found an outlet for her empathy and compassion through volunteering at Stein Hospice, where she supported primary caregivers and helped patients navigate their final days.

During her children’s school years, she enjoyed the family’s annual two-week summer road-trip vacations. As an empty nester, she became the family “switchboard,” keeping relatives—scattered across the Midwest and South—connected and up to date on one another’s lives. Her other interests included reading, walking throughout town, and participating in a local exercise group well into her 80s. She was also a Friend of the Huron Public Library and a Friend of Erie Metro Parks.
