Lina Baron Wharton

Huron - Lina Lee Baron Wharton, 91, formerly of Huron, passed away peacefully, Monday morning October 11, 2021, in her home in Longwood, Florida.

Lina was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on November 3, 1929 to Fred and Virginia Lee. They moved to Huron where she graduated from Huron High School in 1947. Lina attended Heidelberg University and met her husband, Chuck Baron, in the college choir. Upon Chuck's passing in 1964, she married Bill Wharton in 1965 and together with his three daughters they raised their blended family of six children.

Lina was a member of the Huron Yacht Club, the Garden Club, Child Study Club, and the Episcopal Churches in Huron and Winter Park, Florida. She loved to knit and made thousands of newborn hats to donate to the local hospitals.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Charlene) Baron, Woody Baron, Lori Baron Brown, Laurie (Rich) Dana, Amy (Melinda) Wharton, and Melissa (Dan) Carter; grandchildren, Amy (John) Springer, Molly (Michael) Richard, Ashley (Brett) Tomassetti, Krissy (Geoff) Schmidt, Hannah (Derek) Stone, Marilyn (Edan) Yacobovsky, Betsy, Virginia and Lily Carter, Liz Dana, and Lucy Wharton; as well as 12 great grandchildren.

Lina was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Virginia Lee; sister, Jane Lee Gundlach; and husbands, Chuck Baron and Bill Wharton.

As we all know, her favorite place to be in the whole world was Chaska Beach.

There will be a private family service only. Burial will be at Scott Cemetery in Huron.
