Leslie Anne Casper, 71, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away on April 18, 2026, at Norwalk Memorial Home.
Leslie was born on May 6, 1954, at Cuyahoga Community Hospital in Berea, Ohio. She graduated from Huron High School in 1972 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Bowling Green State University in 1976. Her career reflected a lifelong commitment to people and community, with roles at Volunteers in Action in Sandusky, the law firm Squires, Sanders & Dempsey, and as a copy editor and proofreader at Aerocom and Bohme. She retired in 2020 from Huron County Job and Family Services, where she served as a dedicated social worker.
Leslie was a remarkable woman—strong-willed, thoughtful, and full of humor. An avid reader and lifelong learner, she had a special fondness for language, Latin, and the written word. She was also a devoted family historian, always ready to share a story. Leslie was especially proud of her Canadian heritage, often celebrating holidays and memorable moments with her numerous cousins north of the border.
Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved son, Craig (Ashten) Casper of Huron, and her cherished grandsons, Cameron and Otto, who were truly her heart. She also leaves behind her siblings Lynn Susko of Norwalk, Dale Casper of Norwalk, and Lori (Matt) Cross of Huron, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. She had a steadfast companion in Chaska, her beautifully whiskered Russian Blue.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curt and Helen (O’Neill) Casper; her brother, Neil Casper; and her niece, Nicole Lynn Holtz.
Leslie loved deeply and believed in showing it. She would remind you to hug your people, make the phone call, read a good book, watch a smashing hockey game, and always sit by the water when you can. Maybe even enjoy a butter tart or a Timbit (iykyk). Be kind and leave good memories—because life is fleeting, and family and friends are everything.
Foster Funeral Home & Crematory in Huron is assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at www.fosterfh.com. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
