Kathleen (Kathie) H. Hagstrom, 62, of Sandusky, Ohio, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023.
She was born February 22, 1961, and was raised in Jamestown, New York, by her parents, Kenneth and Ann (Dwyre) Hughes. Kathie graduated from Jamestown High School and earned her practical nursing license from Jamestown Community College. She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) C. Hagstrom, on September 13, 1986.
Kathie's daily quest for joy led her to share it gracefully and selflessly with those around her. Whether meeting her for the first time or knowing her for a lifetime, people were captivated by her radiant energy and authentic kindness. With life’s inevitable challenges, Kathie navigated each obstacle with remarkable elegance. Even in the most trying times, she retained her sharp wit and keen sense of humor, finding laughter where others might only see hardship.
Kathie cherished her family and passionately cared for the health and safety of her loved ones. She expertly made a house a home, willingly offered a helping hand to those she encountered, and meticulously ensured each day—spent with her husband, children, or friends—was experienced with tenderness, smiles, and affirmations of her love. Her faith was strong, and her relationship with God was inviolable. Kathie’s character is a sterling example of what humanity should aspire to be.
Whether through her dedicated work as a nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, or friend, Kathie left an indelible impact on all who had the privilege of being part of her life. Her commitment to her physical and spiritual well-being was driven by the urgency to remain a steadfast home to those she loved, even amidst change and uncertainty.
Kathie is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Mitchell H. Hagstrom (Ashley); daughter, Ann E. Hagstrom; grandson, Beckett W. Hagstrom; sister, Patricia Fiorella; and childhood best friends, Valerie Brooks and Melanie Griffis.
During her lifetime, Kathie’s love extended to several canine family members, including Chelsie Hagstrom, Tobias Earl Hagstrom, and, most recently, Lucy Hagstrom. She and Lucy enjoyed daily walks at Osborne Park—they are joined again, walking.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing to honor Kathie’s life from 2 – 5 PM on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory (410 Main Street, Huron, Ohio 44839).
