HURON - John William Phillips, 81, of Huron, passed away at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, peacefully, on April 24, 2021.
John was born on March 28, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, to parents, Jane (Phillips) Phillips and George E. Phillips, of Norwalk, Ohio.
He was a 1958 graduate of Norwalk High School, and later attended Ohio Northern University, graduating in 1964. Following graduation, John went on to teach math at Bellevue High School, Huron High School, and Huron’s McCormick Junior High, for 30 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Huron, since 1960, and served as a Deacon during that time.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita (Molnar) Phillips, whom he married on September 3, 1960. Also surviving, are daughters, Cindy (Chuck) Kaman, of Huron, and Joanna Phillips, of Huron; grandchildren, Bob Kaman and Andrea Kaman; and brother-in-law, Steve (Nancy) Molnar.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory, to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio; Huron First Presbyterian Church, 225 Williams Street, Huron; or a charity of one’s choice.
