John Dana Bowers, 78, passed away at his home Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024. He was born March 13, 1945, to Robert and Edith Bowers. He loved growing up in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1963, where he played football, basketball and track, holding a school record for years. John attended Wilmington College and was a member of the Ohio National Guard.
John retired from GM Delphi, and loved running his fishing charter business "Bowers Charter Fishing" for 30 years where he made wonderful friends along the way. In past years, John, along with his father & brother, won several walleye tournaments. John's happiest times were spent on Lake Erie. Hopefully Capt. John is now fishing "up there" in the BIG LAKE where there are "no limits".
John is survived by his wife, Margie; daughter, Ashley Bowers; sister, Dee (Randy) Catri; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Fran Chubak; sister-in-law, Kim Bowers; and many precious cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
There will be a Funeral Mass for John at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Huron.
Just like his father and brother, John believed "God doesn't count the days we spend fishing."
