John Charles “Chuck” Allendorf passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 13, 2026.
A 1968 graduate of Huron High School, Chuck went on to attend The Ohio State University, where he developed a lifelong passion for the Buckeyes.
Chuck was a dedicated businessman and proud lifelong owner of Sandusky Dressed Beef, Ace Hardware, and several Subway locations. He was widely known for his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to his community.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Waldock Allendorf; his father, William (Nell) Allendorf; his brothers, William August Allendorf and George H. Allendorf; his nephew, B.J. Allendorf; and his mother-in-law, Marion Nestra.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Allendorf; his daughter, Amy (Todd) Brown; his son, John (Carli) Allendorf; and his cherished grandchildren, Evan, Casey, Jax, and Carson. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, John Nestra; his sister, Virginia (Jimmy Lee) Messenger; his nephew, Billy (Katie) Allendorf; his niece, Morgan Allendorf; and many other loving family members.
Chuck lived life to the fullest. His sharp sense of humor and signature sarcastic wit ensured there was never a dull moment. He enjoyed boating, playing poker, golfing, and especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Whether passionately questioning a referee’s call or playfully heckling the opposing team, his competitive spirit was unmistakable.
Above all, Chuck’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his family. He would do anything for them, and they brought him immense pride and happiness.
Chuck was truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
