Jeanne Platek, 94, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2022.
She was born in Chester, PA and was a graduate of both Notre Dame High School and St. Agnes School of Nursing in Philadelphia. While attending St. Agnes, she met the love of her life, John, who returned from WWII to attend Villanova. They were married in 1950 and began their 50-year marriage by moving to Carlsbad, CA for first duty station at Camp Pendleton before returning to Cleveland.
Jeanne was a proud and enthusiastic Marine Corps spouse and supporter through active duty and the reserve tours for over 20 years. She loved gardening, Lake Erie, and keeping the birds fed. She was active in Herb Guild, book clubs, and volunteering with Stein Hospice and Red Cross.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Platek; the loving mother of James (Janet), Jeanne (the late Dave) Stuckey, the late Jeffrey, and John (Samantha); proud grandma of 15: Chris, Kyle (Holli), Katy, Kelsey, Kevin, Tiffany (Tim) Salay, John, the late Aaron, Julie, Nick (Alicia), Eric (Amanda), Gill, Jane, Meredith, and Charlie; great grandma of 9: Wren, Clara, Dakota Salay (Johnny Grabowski), TJ, Caden, Madeline, Parker, Owen, and Emory; daughter of the late Joseph and late Marion Bannan (nee Cosgriff); and sister of Margaret “Peggy” Shaw (the late Bill) and the late Joseph (the late Anne) Bannan.
Jeanne’s family thanks her care team: Marian, Jody, Tracie, Beth, Rosemary, Pam, Lisa, Katie, Kathene, Celeste, and Biscuit for their excellent care and companionship for many years.
Friends and family may call Monday, April 11, 2022 from 6 – 8 PM at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron 44839. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron 44839.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky 44870, or to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
