Jean Wikel, born August 31, 1932, was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother & great-grandmother, and beloved friend. She passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and kindness. She was the daughter of the late Nathanial and Elzora Shupe.
Jean’s life was filled with the things she loved most: cooking and baking for those she cared about, gardening, crafting, solving puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with her treasured family. A true farm wife, she took great pride in working alongside her husband on the family farm, building a life centered around dedication, strength, and love.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Rodger A. Wikel; her son, Tim Wikel; and her grandson, Adam Sartor. Though they have gone before her, their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
She is survived by her children: Carolyn Butler, Debra (Mike) Sartor, Teddy (Debra) Wikel, and Pamela (Ray Thom) Wikel; her daughter-in-law, Darlene Wikel; and her grandchildren: Robert, Rodger, Cindy, Eric, Mindy, Joshua, Tabitha, Justin, Mandy, Samantha, Beki, Heidi, and Deedee.
Jean was also blessed with 28 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring family legacy she helped create.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM with a service following at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory at 410 Main Street, Huron, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio, whose care and compassion brought comfort in her final days.
