James T. Silver passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by family and love. He was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Huron, Ohio.
Jim had a lifelong passion for fast cars—especially Corvettes. Over the course of his life, he owned 20 of them and could talk about them for hours. If it had horsepower, he was interested. When he wasn’t on the road, he was on Lake Erie, boating with a cold Budweiser in hand—his version of perfect peace.
He was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and generosity. Jim loved making people laugh and was always ready to lend a hand or offer honest advice. Many considered him an inspiration and someone you could always count on.
Jim is survived by his daughters: Dianna Silver, Sheri Lamb (Brad Allen), and Christine Brausch (Jon Brausch); his grandchildren: Michael Delahunt, Timothy Delahunt, and Katy Lamb; his sister, Amy Silver; his nephew, Conor McPartland; and his niece, Alanna Covington.
Shortly after the passing of his wife, Barbara, Jim rescued a beautiful black-and-white cat named Lucy, who became his loyal and constant companion. He adored her, and she brought him peace and comfort in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, and his brother, Tom Silver.
Oh—and if you thought he had brown hair, surprise: it was gray all along. He just didn’t let us see it until the end.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stein Hospice in his honor.
