Berlin Heights – Dr. James Stanley Kilbury, DDS,86, better known as ‘Doc’, Dad, Grandpa, Husband and friend, passed peacefully on June 2, 2020 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky. He was born March 2, 1934 in Marion, Ohio, the son of Herman Rodney Kilbury and Alberta Myers Kilbury, brother of Theodore Joseph Kilbury.
James spent his school years at St. Marys Catholic Schools in Marion from which he graduated in 1952. Later that fall, he attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, graduating with a Doctorate in Dental Science in August 1959. After receiving his degree, Jim served in the United States Army as a Captain while stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Jim moved to Huron in 1961where he raised his family and built a thriving dental practice. Jim loved his time and friends at the Huron Yacht Club. Upon retirement at the age of 77, Jim missed his patients so much he took up a job with Dial-A-Ride, in Huron, of which he said “most of the people I drive are younger than me! Ha“.
Jim was a sports enthusiast and a lover of the outdoors. While at OSU he played basketball for a short stint, but mostly loved the game of golf! He also enjoyed fishing, swimming, skiing, and mowing the lawn. Jim was a devout Christian and belonged to the Catholic Church his entire life. He loved to have a good laugh and, whether watching the Three Stooges or Johnny Carson, his laugh was unique and notable! Jim loved people and people loved Jim, ‘Doc’, Dad, Husband, Friend!
He is preceded in death by his parents Rodney and Alberta Kilbury.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nerva J. Kilbury, his 5 children and 3 stepchildren, Terry Hall, Kathleen (Vance) Kilbury Sarbaugh, Deb Pelphrey, James H. Kilbury, Jennifer S. Kilbury, Melissa (John) Kilbury Victor, Kimberly (Eric) Hartman, Rodney H. (Jennifer) Kilbury; 15 grandchildren, Oliver (Katie) Kilbury, Gabriele (Max) Harden, Dylan Sarbaugh, Emily (Mike) Costein, Jordan (Matt) Hall, John Hall, Sebastian Kilbury, Sarah (Isaiah) Romero, Katie (Darin) Cole, Nik Victor, Ian Victor, Jack (Alexa) Kilbury, Maddie Kilbury, Marissa Hartman, Andrea Hartman; and last, but certainly not least, he has 13 great-grandchildren!
We love you and will miss you and will keep you forever in our hearts. Rest In Peace.
