James N. Berlin, 82, of Huron, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025. He was born on March 8, 1942, in DuBois, PA to the late Woodrow and Marie (King) Berlin.
Jim worked for many years as a financial officer with the Beneficial Finance Company, served as a deputy sheriff for the Erie County Sheriff’s Department, and was a volunteer firefighter for the Huron Fire Department. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as the Secretary for the Huron Eagles Club #2875 for 27 years. Jim was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and had a passion for fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his sons, Paul (Tracy) Berlin and Ken (Andrea) Berlin; his brothers, Tom (Debbie) Berlin, Gary (Lana) Berlin, and Bob (Debbie) Berlin; his sisters, Mary Scherer and Marge (Sam) Twigg; his grandchildren, Savannah ‘Berlin’ Abood, Megan ‘Foss’ Klug, Gregory Jeffrey, and Dominic Berlin; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia “Ginny”; his son, Richard Berlin; brother, John Berlin; and granddaughter, Ryan Foss
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron 44839, on Friday, January 24th from 5 to 7 PM. A Mass in celebration of Jim’s life will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron on Saturday, January 25th at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at Scott Cemetery, Huron Avery Rd. A reception celebrating his life will be held following the burial at the Huron Eagles Club, 2902 Cleveland Rd. W., Huron.
