Irma J Franklin

Irma Franklin, 85, of Norwalk and formerly of Huron, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at Parkvue Memory Care in Sandusky.

Born in Lima, Ohio, Irma graduated from Shawnee High School and went on to earn an associates degree in business from BGSU. She held several bookkeeping and office positions, including at McIntyre Chevrolet and Franklin Sanitation before changing careers and earning her LPN license from Sandusky School of Practical Nursing. After many years of service, Irma retired from full-time positions at both Erie County Care Facility and Huron Health Care Center.

She was a lifelong member of the Huron and Norwalk Eagles, participated in numerous exercise classes at the Norwalk Rec. Center and was an avid bowler on weekly leagues in Norwalk and Huron. She also loved to travel and spend time with family.

Irma will be greatly missed by her two children, Celia (Timothy) Finton and Gregory (René) Franklin; grandchildren, Andrew (Ciara) Finton, Carly (Ryan) Schulman and Alyssa, Brianna and Elijah Franklin; and great-grandchildren, Juliana Denney and Gianna Finton. She is also survived by sisters, Harriet (Tom) Veitch, LuAnn (Tom) Leach; and brothers, Rodger and Michael Hilyard.

Irma was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Sims; father, Harold Hilyard; and longtime special companion, Charles Sams.

Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m., followed by a brief commemoration at 7:30 on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron 44839.
