Henry "Hank" J. Goscinski

HURON – Henry “Hank” J. Goscinski, 95, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH with his family by his side.

   He was born June 14, 1924 to John and Stella (Zukowski) Goscinski in Terryville, CT. He attended trade school and earned an associate’s degree from Hilliard College in Hartford, CT while working full time for New Departure Hyatt, as a draftsman/engineer. He retired as department head after more than a quarter of a century of meticulous work.

   He was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant during WWII, graduating first in his cadet class. He instructed bombardier/navigators aboard the B -17. 

Fly Fishing was synonymous with Hank. He tied his own flies and fished all of North America, outfishing everyone with his specialty Hornburg pattern. He passed his love for fishing onto his children and grandchildren.

  He began downhill skiing at the young age of 57 and served as the past president of the Sandusky Ski Club. He skied in the United States and Canada as well as Europe until age 85. 

   He is survived by his son, David Goscinski of Lorain, OH and his daughter, Jennifer and her husband John McKinnon of Huron, OH, his half- brother, John Goscinski Jr and his wife Cindy of Thomaston, CT;

 four grandchildren: Zachary, Hallie, Claire and Mary McKinnon, and a great-grandson, Roman Woodbury.  

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Gladchuk) Goscinski; parents, John Goscinski and Stella (Zukowski) Choquette; and sister, Alfreda Osenkowski.

   A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 9th at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main Street, Huron, with Rev. Jeffrey McBeth officiating.

   Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron next to his wife of 37 years.

   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, OH.
