Geraldine Malone Obituary

HURON- Geraldine “Jeri” N. Malone, 96, formerly of Huron, passed away Thursday evening, April 23, 2020 at Parkvue Assisted Living, Sandusky.   

   She was born May 12, 1923 in Seneca County to Glenn and Marcy (Fox) Williams, Sr.

    She was a 1941 graduate Republic High School in Seneca County. After graduation she moved to Sandusky and worked at Martin’s Restaurant.

   Jeri enlisted in the United States Navy May 18, 1944. She served as Seaman Second Class in the WAVS.

 On Nov. 27, 1946 she married Richard J. Malone in Sandusky.  They moved to Bowling Green, where she attended Bowling Green State University 1947-48.  After Richard graduated from BGSU in 1949 they moved to Huron.

   Jeri was a Blue Bird and Camp Fire Leader, member of Executive Comm. of Camp Fire Girls, and member of Huron Band Parents.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Huron.  She worked as Church Secretary for five years. She was active in Trinity Circle, Altar Guild, Prayer Circle, Blanket Makers, Stewardship Committee, and taught Sunday school for seven years. She also served as President, Vice-President, and Sec. of Education in ZLCW, Rec. Sec. on Church Council, and Rec. Sec. for Lutheran Memorial Home Auxiliary.

   Her true joy was serving on the Music and Worship Committee and singing in the Church Choir 1962-2003.

Jeri is survived by her daughter Marcy (Steve) Reutepohler of Huron; four grandsons, Shawn Malone of Columbus, Corey Malone of Oregon, Chris (Justina) Reutepohler and Craig (Molly) Reutepohler of Amherst; four great- grandchildren, Callen, Quinn, Kyle, and Ella Reutepohler; sister Bertha Correll of Tiffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; her son Terrence W. Malone in 2009; 4 sisters, Grace Spino, Dorothy Williams, Mary B. Schmidt, and Joyce Sowell; 3 brothers, Lehman, Glenn Jr., and Hugh Williams; and half-brother Hubert William.

   Special thanks to her caregivers who were a blessing to her in her final days, and the entire staff of Parkvue Assisted Living.

    Private services will be held Tuesday, April 28th. Pastor Chris Reutepohler will officiate. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron.    

     Previously planned Military Honors have been cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.  A Celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
