Gale (Duke) A. Dauch Sr., 92, of Huron, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Born in Huron on October 30, 1932, to the late G. Albert and Helen (Holzhauer) Dauch, Gale dedicated his life to hard work, service, and community. He spent many years as an ironworker and owner at Sandusky Milan Steel and was a devoted member of Ironworkers Local #17 in Cleveland, which he joined in 1952, earning the distinction of being the second oldest living member. Gale also served in the Army and spent 19 years as a volunteer firefighter in Townsend. Actively engaged in his community, he was a member of Eagles #2875, the Masons, and the Norwalk Conservation Club. He enjoyed bowling with friends in leagues in both Huron and Norwalk, playing pinochle with his brothers, and had a passion for gardening
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Deanne (Wright) Dauch; daughter, Cheryl (Vincent) DeGregorio of Easton, PA; sons, Gale A. Jr. (Patricia) Dauch of Collins, Gregory Dauch of Vermilion, and Gary (Lisa) Dauch of Norwalk; step-children, Jaime (Sandy) Coffman of Norwalk, Montgomery (Nicole) Coffman of Toledo, Laura Coffman of Huron, and Tracy Rupp of Huron; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Smith (Bart) of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, David (Carol) Dauch of CA; and sisters-in-law, Mona (Bill) of Wakeman, OH, Lee (Jack) of Huron, Sandy (Richard) of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Mary Lou Knittel of Milan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Jack, Richard, and George; brother-in-law, Barton Smith; grandson, Andrew Rupp; and nephew, William Dauch Jr.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 4 - 8 PM at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron 44839. Last goodbyes will be Sunday, November 17 from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM.
