Florence Edna (Majoy) Bledsoe, 90, of Huron, passed away Tuesday morning, November 19, 2024, in her home with her furry companion, Maggie, by her side.
She was born on September 21, 1934, in Huron, OH, to the late Peter and Viola Majoy.
Florence, AKA: Flo, or if you really wanted to piss her off, Flossie, worked a short time at Barr Rubber in Sandusky before following her husband, Wimp, around the world while he was in the service. She was a devoted wife and mother to four amazing children. Cooking and baking came naturally to her. Local Italian restaurants had nothing on Flo's handmade spaghetti and slow simmered sauce. Gnocchi was a special treat, and you know that she liked you if she offered to make you gnocchi and sauce! If you wanted to make her really happy all you had to do was offer to take her to the casino or to the bingo hall. She was an avid bingo player, going every Tuesday to the bingo hall in Norwalk. If she won at bingo everybody knew not to tell Wimp how much she won because he would want his cut. So if she won $1,000 she would tell him that she won $100 so that she only had to give him $50. It was a running joke in the family. She will be missed by her entire family, and her good friend and neighbor, Jean.
Flo is survived by her son, David (Joanne) Bledsoe of Huron; daughters, Denise Kopke of Huron and Diane (Tom) Simpson of Huron; grandchildren, Crissy, Carrie, Cindy, Randy, Michael, Ryan, Troy, Kelly, Kim, Janay, and Becky; 21 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Flo is preceded in death by her husband, Winfield Bledsoe in 2019; son, Randy Bledsoe; grandson, David Bledsoe Jr.; as well as two sisters and three brothers.
