Donald "Don" Everett Obituary

Huron- Donald (Don) G. Everett passed away peacefully on November 30, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a long life, filled with love and happiness from family and friends.

Don was born September 30, 1931. He was the son of John and Marie (Kirsch) Everett, born in Bryan, Ohio and graduated from Monroeville High School in 1949. He attended Bowling Green State University and The Ohio State University and served four years in the United States Air Force in Colorado Springs, CO where he met the love of his life, Bea.

Don retired from Union Chain in 1994 as their chief estimator of 30 years. Don was a family man who cared deeply about his faith which he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He was involved in many church and community groups, including a long-standing member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Choir, Knights of Columbus, St. Peter Parish Council, Christian Family Movement, Senior Fellowship, Dial A Ride, Firelands Chorus, Huron Lions Club, and Sandusky Amvets. He also served on the board of directors for Erie Residential and Erie County Farmers Insurance. Don had many hobbies, including boating, fishing, golfing, and playing cards. He also loved to travel and plan trips. He and Bea had visited all 50 states, many of which included their children.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan Beatrice (Duran) Everett; children, Peggy (wife of Steve) Everett, Tom Everett, Sue (Chris) Rader, Jude (Jim) Seeholzer, Joan (Craig) Saunders, Barb (Tom) Slattery, Mary (Rick) Langhals, Jim (Marcie) Everett; and sister, Mary Jo (Everett) Herzog and her family. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, their spouses and 14, soon to be 15, great grandchildren: Allison (Al Jobes) Rader, Kelley (Cody) Martin and family, Justin (Sarah) Saunders and family, Dana (Berkley Miely) Seeholzer and family, Drew (Katie) Langhals and family, Heather (Terrance) Buckner and family, Mallory (Jon Burrow) Saunders and family, Alicia (Jake) Daumeyer, Abbey (Scott) Manion and family, Madeline (Rick) Rentner and family, Alex Slattery,  Savannah Everett, Evan (Allison) Slattery, Erika Langhals and Ellie Everett.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard (Betty) Everett and Raymond Everett; a son, Steve Everett; and granddaughter, Michelle Saunders.

Visitation and service will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron, at 9am followed by a 10am funeral mass. Christian burial will be at Scott Cemetery, 9110 Huron Avery Rd., Huron, followed by a luncheon in the gathering space at St. Peter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michelle Saunders Memorial Fund, Erie Residential or St. Peter Catholic Church.
