Donald Boyd Ludwig, beloved father and grandfather, passed away suddenly on November 9, 2024. Don was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 15, 1949, to James O. Ludwig, Sr., MD, and Jean Byers Ludwig. He was the fourth of seven children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Linda Duberson, James Ludwig Jr., Ralph Ludwig, and Robert Ludwig.
Don is survived by his loving children: daughter, Tiffany L. Hickey and her husband David; and son, Sean S. Ludwig and his wife Alina. His grandchildren will greatly miss him: Chloe Hickey, William (Jack) Hickey, Bradley Ludwig, Brendan Ludwig, Brooke Ludwig, Trent Rose, Trevor Rose, and great grand daughter Sophia Rose. His siblings Ann Garber and Heidi Sazdonoff (Ted) also survive him.
Don was a survivor. He overcame years of health issues that would have taken most ordinary people down. Don loved boating, fishing, hunting, and golf. He had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling to remote ocean-side retreats in Central America. He took great pride in his yard and garden. He was known for his dry humor and no-nonsense view of the world. He could sell anything: snack food, beef jerky, tropical plants, generators, lighting, pickles, and even ice to an Eskimo.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
