Dominic Majoy Jr Obituary

Dominic “Tike” Majoy, 93, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving and caring family.

Tike lived a successful and fulfilling life, marked first and foremost by his love for family and friends, his strong work ethic, and, of course, his daily gatherings at the “Donut Shop” (affectionately known as “The College of Knowledge”). What could be better than that?

He is survived by his devoted wife of 72½ years, Agnes Doyle; his sons, Mark (Lisa), Kris (Brittney), and John (Hope); and his daughters, Marianne (Marc Schoen) and Carolyn (Jeff Haynes). He is also survived by his brothers, George “Dan,” Richard (Dana), and Kenny, and by his sisters, Patti Blodgett (Paul) and Mavis Triana (Frank).

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Zappa; his great-granddaughter, Marley Rae Fry; his parents, Dominic “Macioce” Majoy and Ada Majoy-Hoilman (Clements); his sisters, Thelma Teague, Helen Keegan, and Anna Hardy; and his brothers, Ray Majoy (Sally) and Wayne “Turk” Majoy (Betsy) Joseph (Boogs) Majoy (Bonnie).

Tike was blessed with 19 grandchildren. Mark’s children are Reece, Mason, Pierce, Madison, and Claire. Kris’s children are Myles (Sarah) and Mallory Majoy. Marianne’s children are Clay Schoen (Mariah), Devin (Bill Fry), Sydney (Nicholas Raifsnider), and Halle (Skylar). Carolyn’s children are Edward (Miah), Alec, Perry (Jamie), and Hanna (Kent Edwards). John and Hope’s daughter is Macie. Cindy’s children are Tony (Jess), Vincent, and Gina Zappa.

Great Grandchildren: Maren, Brody, Addilyn Fry;  Kenna, Karsyn  Lilly, Lucy, Londyn Edwards, Kade Snyder, Mila Majoy; Krew Schoen, Rhyis, Bentley and a new one expected in December.

After graduating from Huron High School in 1951, Tike enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, in the Engineer School Battalion.

He was the owner and operator of Majoy Builders for more than 50 years, building over 100 homes throughout Huron, Berlin Heights, Milan, Castalia, Bellevue, Fremont, Catawba Island, and Port Clinton. In retirement, he continued to share his expertise through six years of service with Habitat for Humanity.

While at Huron High School, Tike earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and track for three years and was honored with the Parm Jones Award as the “Most Outstanding Athlete” upon graduation. A lifelong supporter of Huron athletics, he was inducted into the Huron High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Class of 1951.

Tike was deeply committed to his community. He served on the Huron Memorial Stadium Committee in 1969, was President of the Huron Booster Club in 1974, and served as President of the Huron School Board in 1992.

He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron, Ohio, and was also affiliated with the Erie County Home Builders Association, Huron Fraternal Order of Eagles, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and VFW.
