David H. Boos

David H. (Dave) Boos, 80, of Huron, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.

Dave was born in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Frederick and Virginia (Farschman) Boos. He was a lifelong resident of Huron, graduating as a proud member of the Class of 1959. He later trained at Sandusky High School to earn credit as an apprentice plumber and following apprenticeship, he served as a journeyman under his father. As a licensed plumber, Dave worked for many years at Boos Plumbing and Heating with his father, and later at Guenther Plumbing & Heating until retirement. He also served as a volunteer fireman for the Huron Fire Department from 1962 to 2003, earning the rank of Lieutenant.

During high school, Dave met the love of his life, Sara J. Martin, at Mitiwanga Beach. They were married on May 12,1962 in Norwalk, Ohio. They enjoyed traveling together, spending time with friends, and were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage before Sara’s passing. Together, Dave and Sara, had three daughters, Amy (Jim Both), Dana (Jason Matunas), and Jennifer (Roger Hoying); and one son, Timothy (Lynn). He loved and was proud of his grandchildren: Katie and Alex Both, DJ Boos, and Natalie, Ethan, and Naomie Hoying.

In addition to time with his family, Dave enjoyed helping others, hunting, riding his ATV, gardening, outdoor conservation, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and Western movies. He built a hunting cabin in Tidioute, PA in 1968 and enjoyed hunting in Montana and Colorado for the first time in 1977 with friends and the last time in 2008 with his son, Tim.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, and his brother, James Boos.

In addition to his daughters, Dave is survived by his sister-in-law, Susan Bakaitis; his uncle, George Smith; many beloved cousins; his grand-dogs; his large circle of friends; and his faithful companion-his dog, Lucy.

Dave’s life will be celebrated at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron, on Friday, November 26, 2021, from 1:00-5:00 PM. A small service will be conducted at 4:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private, and a larger celebration of life will be held at a later date.
