Barbara Walker Obituary

Barbara “Barb” Lee Walker
October 31, 1944 – April 7, 2025

Barbara “Barb” Lee Walker, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2025. She was born on October 31, 1944, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Robert Lee Smith and Ruth Janette Sellers.

A lifelong resident of the Norwalk area, Barb was a proud graduate of Norwalk High School. While working locally, she met the love of her life, Eugene “Gene” Walker. The two were inseparable, sharing 57 wonderful years of marriage until Gene’s passing in July 2024.

Together, Barb and Gene built a warm and loving home in Milan, Ohio, where they raised their son, Robbie. Their life was filled with deep love, laughter, and an enduring compassion for those around them.

Though private by nature, Barb was full of quiet strength. She deeply cherished her family, her friends, and the many beloved pets who were a constant presence in her life. Barb had a zest for life and a passion for bowling and bingo. She spent many years active in local bowling leagues and found great joy in mentoring and encouraging young bowlers throughout the Norwalk community.

In her later years, Barb and Gene treasured their visits to Atlanta, where they enjoyed precious time with their son Rob, his wife Amy, and their three grandchildren — Mason, Charlotte, and Mary Jane — all of whom brought Barb immense pride and joy.

Despite the challenges of dementia in her final years, Barb remained surrounded by love and was devotedly cared for by Gene until his passing.

Barb is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Walker; her parents, Robert Lee Smith and Ruth Janette Sellers; and Lewis Ellison. She is survived by her son, Rob (Amy); her adored grandchildren, Mason, Charlotte, and Mary Jane; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
