Arthur Herrada Obituary

Arthur Herrada, known to friends and family as Art, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 13, 2026, at The Parkvue Community in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on November 10, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Elisa Herrada.

Naturally curious and eager to understand how things worked, Art graduated from Cass Technical High School and Lawrence Technological University in Detroit. He went on to enjoy a long and accomplished career with the Ford Motor Company, where he served as a Senior Design Engineer from the 1950s until the early 1990s.

In 1958, Arthur married Winifred “Winnie” Hammond. Together, they raised three children: Randal (Tracy Celaschi), Elisa (Greg Stacy), and Andrew. The family lived for many years in Walled Lake, Michigan, and Art later spent much of his life in Huron, Ohio.

He was a devoted father and a proud grandfather to Brittany (Treb) Bluegu, Christina Holmer, Joseph Santos Herrada, Amanda Herrada, Michelle (Abraham) Handgis, Donna Gustafson, and Jennifer (Stanley) Sebastian. His great-grandchildren are Jonah Miller, Bronson Delk, Bella Handgis, Willow Handgis, Maverick Lang, Stanley Sebastian, Olivia Sebastian, and Kimberlee Sebastian.

Art cherished time with his family above all else. He always had something meaningful to say—never wasting words, always sincere and kind. His warm smile and gentle chuckle were especially endearing. He enjoyed sports and the outdoors and was an avid tennis player, participating in leagues at Bay Winds Racquet Club. He was always tinkering with machinery and spent much of his time out in the garage. Among his prized possessions were a Chris Craft named “Winnie” after his beloved wife and a 1955 Ford Thunderbird.

Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Winnie; his parents; his siblings Alex, Amelia, Cecelia, Fred, Bert, Irene; and daughter-in-law, Tracy. He is survived by his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and his brother, Bob.
