Alice Faye Round

July 19, 1934 – April 27, 2024

Alice Faye Round, 89 of Huron, Ohio passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 27, 2024.

Faye was born in Ironton, Ohio to Wade and Martha Bruce. She attended London High School, London, Ohio, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Asbury College, Wilmore, Kentucky, 1956, and her Master of Science in School Psychology, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, 1975.

Faye enjoyed a wonderfully long career in education. She began teaching in Ohio, then California and back to Ohio. In her early years she taught students in elementary schools and was a substitute teacher in the evenings, having a chance to teach her boys in Cincinnati while attending Miami University.

Once she completed school in Oxford, the family left Cincinnati and she started her first school psychologist position in the Fulton County school system in Wauseon, Ohio. A year later the family left for Sandusky, Ohio with a prominent role as School Psychologist for the Sandusky City Schools which also included responsibilities in the areas private school system. She also assisted in the Huron County Board of Education, Norwalk, Ohio and enjoyed mentoring students and giving private art lessons in the area.

Faye enjoyed painting and writing children’s books. She enjoyed supporting the community as team mother with the boys baseball teams and held positions with the Huron Athletic Booster Club, Volunteers in Action, NAACP, National Education Association, National Association of School Psychologist, Ohio School Psychologists Association, Ohio Education Association, Sandusky Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa Historian receiving the Most Innovative Preservation of History Award in 1988.

Faye loved her family, neighbors in Chaska Beach and could be found attending her son Chris’ sporting events and many of her son Lenny’s band gigs throughout northern Ohio. The house in Chaska was always open to the kids.

Faye is survived by her loving sister, Avanelle Oberlin, Marysville, Ohio, son Chris Round; Linda, and grandchildren Jacob Round, Kiely Round and Joseph Round, Cincinnati, Ohio and Thomas Michael Russell Round and Leonard (Anthony) Round.  

She was preceded by parents, sister Donna (Fugate) Bruce, her son, Lenny Round and grandson Jordan Round.

Visitation for friends and family will be at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main Street Huron, Ohio 44839 on Friday, May 3rd at 11:00am with a brief service at 11:30am.
