Albert J. Sima

Albert J. Sima, 81, of Norwalk, formerly of Huron, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. 

He was born on January 8, 1943, in Chicago, IL, and lived in Huron for many years before moving to Norwalk. Albert earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Accounting from Baldwin Wallace, laying the foundation for a successful career as the Chief Accountant at Glidden/ICI Paints. For over three decades, Albert dedicated himself to the company, often traveling internationally for his work. In 2003, he acquired leadership of his own accounting firm, a position he held until his passing.

Beyond his career, Albert was deeply engaged in his community, serving as a member of the Jaycees, Huron Chamber of Commerce: President 1992-1993 and received President's Award 1997 and the Huron Rotary Club, where he received the prestigious Paul Harris Award for his contributions and loyal service. 

Albert was very active in a raquet ball club, and recreational golf. He was the Patriarch of his family and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchild and extended family.  He was a loyal fan of the San Francisco Forty Niners, Cleveland Guardians, and Chicago Blackhawks. He was also a fan of Disney and enjoyed several family vacations at Disney Resorts. 

Albert is survived by his daughters, Deb (Mike) Bechtel of Huron, and Corinna (Rich) Schuppenies of Sylvania, OH; son, Albert (Rebecca) Janka of Norwalk, grandchildren, Steven (Courtney) Bechtel, Nicholas Bechtel, Alexander Sima, Brianna and Caylee Schuppenies; as well as great-grandson, William Bechtel.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife and high school sweetheart of 55 years, Carol (Slagle) Sima, and his parents, Albert and Della (Erickson) Sima.

Cremation has taken place, and the family will have a private Celebration of Life Service.
