Carl L. Kovacs, 89, of Huron, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning March 2, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Carl was born June 2, 1934, to Louis and Sophie Kovacs in Lorain and graduated from Vermilion High School in 1952. He was a member of the Erie County Band where he met his wife, Gladys Grisell, and served in the Army and Army Reserve from 1957 through 1962.
A resident of Huron for most of his life, Carl is survived by his daughters, Kaye (Jeff) Gorman of North Ridgeville and Susan Kovacs (Mike Felter) of Milan; sisters, Dorothy Jones of California and Rosemary Kovacs of Vermilion; and grandchildren, Jason (Brittany) Gorman of Charleston, SC, Erik (Maeghan) Gorman of Strongsville, and Sebastian Kilbury of Columbus. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Madilynn and Elize Gorman (Erik) and Tanner and Lilah Gorman (Jason); as well as nephews, Steven (Kim) Dircks and Kevin (Lisa) Dircks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gladys (2009), and son David (2015).
Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2024, from 3-5 PM at the Huron Eagles, 2902 Cleveland Rd. W., Huron 44839, followed by a Celebration of Life from 5-7 PM.
