Robert J. Quinn October 16th, 2009 KELLEYS ISLAND - Robert J. Quinn, 74, died unexpectedly Friday October 16th 2009 at his home on Kelleys Island. He was born July 8th 1935 in Lakewood, to the late George F. and Frances L. (nee Wasmer) Quinn. He was a member of the first graduating class of St. Edwards High School in 1953. Bob then attended the Foreign Service School of Georgetown University where he was a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Bob later graduated from The Univertidad Iberoamerinaca in Mexico City. In 2003 he was awarded the distinguished St. Edwards Alumnus “Bronze Eagle Award”. Bob worked for Thompson Products Automotive Replacement Parts Division (TRW) traveling to Mexico, Central and South America, Japan, the Far East, and Europe. He then worked for Erico Products in Solon, Ohio, where he was transferred to Canada for three years to head a division. In 1976 he and his family returned to Huron where he bought the V.A. Fries Lumber Co. and the Berlin Heights Hardware Store. He served two terms on Huron City Council and was appointed Vice-Mayor for one term. He later became a Certified Financial Planner and started Quinn Warren and Associates. Upon his retirement they built a retirement home on Kelleys Island where he spent the majority of his time. While there, he served on the Village Audit Committee, The Kelleys Island School Board and served as the Kelleys Island Airport Manager for the past 6 years. He is preceded in death by his son Mark, and is survived by his wife Martha (nee Kilgore); sons, Rob (Heidi),and Bill; daughter, Julie; grandchildren, Robert, Mckenzie, Anthony, Aleigha, Miles, and Selina; brother, George (Carol); sister, Ann (Bill) Doran; thirteen nieces and nephews; and good friends, Pauline Keating and Norm Morrow. Friends may call Tuesday, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main Street, Huron. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main Street, Huron. Father Gerald Ceranowski and Father Jeff Sikorski will officiate.
